Made another gift, this time for the daughter of one of my mommy friends (the recipient of an amigurumi pig). I very much like the quick turnaround of these small projects especially since my only two WIPs are large: joining and edging of charity lapghan #10 and my son's ripple blanket. I reckon I can finish at least one blanket on our upcoming road-trip to Colorado.
Anyway, searched on Ravelry for ladybirds and found this cute pattern. It's knitting again by the wonderful @deadlyknitshade http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/lovely-knitted-ladybird But then I had to embellish it with crochet eyes and my husband said "where are it's legs?" so ta dah my ladybird also has legs.
And the recipient of the ladybird built her a home. Here it is. Sweet!

Floral headband for teen
I don't usually make things on request (non-crafters assume we whip up yarn projects in minutes, if only!) but this particular sweet teen spotted this on my Pinterest board and her mom is a very close friend who offered to pay me for it (naturally I will make it gratis!). The pattern is from www.redheart.com entitled Elegant Floral Headband. Of course I dug into my stash and didn't have the thread that was called for so using a thicker yarn had to reduce the number of chains, size of leaves and substitute a 2 single crochet cluster for a 3 double crochet cluster for the flowers to keep the scale similar. My ten year old approves and has predictably requested one too!

Teacher gifts : cozies
Working from a slightly adapted version of Marion Hassold's super mug warmer cozy pattern I am mass producing monogrammed cozies for the teachers.
Found the insulated mason cups in TJMaxx for $3.99 - $4.99 each. Using a single crochet stitch instead of double allows me to more easily cross stitch the initials. I did try tunisian as a prototype but the piece curls...

Link crochet necklace
Making these crochet chain links, from my new book Modern Crochet, is seriously addictive. This is a gift for my mum's birthday.
