All swatches done

Now recruiting my guinea pigs for my 15 hours teaching requirement. Amazed at how many of my friends are willing to learn crochet.

Easter door wreath

My DH found this in the garage. I made it last year. Miss the daffodills we have in the UK. Here we have azaleas at Easter. I should have made them instead but I didn't realise last year these were THE flowers we have in the southern US at this time of year.

Seven swatches done

Making good progress. I have learnt how many stitches to chain at the end of each row and whether they count as a stitch or not, depending on the type of stitch. Also learnt how to do a half double and double decrease. Ran out of little baggies so the increase decrease swatches are partnered with their respective stitch swatch. Almost finished my first 100g ball of aqua yarn.

Have also been accepted into the Craft Yarn Council Certificate Graduate and Student Facebook group so this is making for very informative reading.

First swatch

Single crochet stitch on 5mm hook. Wonder if it's neat enough. I've never crocheted into the bump at the back for the foundation row but I think I'm converted. It makes the bottom look just the same as the top. Nice.

Learning to teach crochet

Well I've really gone and done it this time. Signed up for the Craft Council's Certified Instructors Program Part 1. Part of the course is making and sending in swatches in different stitches so the portable project dilemma is solved (the ripple afghan continues to grow steadily each evening). Just had to go out to my local yarn store to buy some high quality worsted in light colors.

Need a portable project

Haven't made oodles of progress this week it seems. The ripple blanket has grown too large and is no longer sufficiently portable to keep me amused while the children do classes. I have taken to trying to declutter my handbag (should say purse) but this just isn't half as satisfying as something yarn-related. The extra yarn is not a wonderful match for my existing yarn so it is adding to the color spectrum which is perfectly acceptable and tension is fine half a hook size down.

Crochet spider web top

Bought some gorgeous grey cotton yarn on sale a while back. Decided a lace pattern spider web top would be just the thing, crocheted in a tube. Took me a while to get the number of repeats the right size (my tension skills in crochet suck!)

Easy crochet bright scarf

We had another cold snap so out came my bright scarf. I was crocheting stripes with stash yarn and repurposed this into a scarf which everyone admires.
