Impromptu lesson for five!

Took my crochet camping this weekend of course (making market bags as teacher gifts) and just happened to pack yarn and hooks in case any of my friends were interested in learning. Well FIVE of them were including one male friend who turned out to be my star pupil!!

Completed ruffle scarf

One of my ruffle scarf night friends finished her scarf with a little assistance today. She is so pleased. It looks gorgeous!

Crochet 3 complete

My student of three lessons is underway with her granny square baby blanket. Yay! Attached is her homework from earlier this month.

Teaching in the local yarn shop is working out very well. I have a request for a pattern reading workshop. It seems more people learn to read patterns when knitting and crochet is passed on in a verbal fashion.

Market bag

Hooked this up today for my friend's birthday tomorrow. Mooglyblog is wonderful for its themed collection of free crochet patterns! Love the stripey red and white of this budget yarn I love this cotton from Hobby Lobby.

Happy Easter

You fellow crafty escapists! A peanut bunny animal, pattern courtesy of Nerdigarumi.

My ruffle yarn workshop ladies

Had two complete beginners but all almost there by the end of the workshop. One of my newbies made up a super way to do the slip stitch holding her hook against her stomach and using one hand to stop it slipping off. Definitely worthy of a YouTube video!

Ruffle yarn for Friday

Teaching two beginner ladies and two ladies who can already crochet how to make a ruffle scarf. I've knitted dozens but this will be my first crochet one. How hard can it be? Watch a video in YouTube, tried out a few rows....

Beginner project complete

I made a two color spiral coaster but could not for the life of me write the instructions a couple of weeks later. Found this pattern for a cute bag (Dot's Little Ditty Bag on CrochetVille - Crochet Patterns - Free Original Patterns).

Spot my cushion

2nd teach at LYS (local yarn store). Crochet 2 more basic stitches.

Ewok bribery

Had to make this amigurumi ewok as bribery for my son in return for teaching him to crochet. Love it! Lucy Ravenscar is the wonderful pattern designer. Find it on Ravelry at: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/wicket-the-ewok

Cute coaster

Made this as a beginner project crocheting in the round (spiral method) as part of my coursework for Craft Yarn Counci Crochet 1 certificate.

Look at this lovely space

I was nervous about this first official class. My "guinea pig" is dear friend and retired principal of a private girls school. What if she told me I was an inadequate teacher? Anyway it went really well and I am really looking forward to my next teach.

First class handout printed

Nervous!! But sure it will go well.

Girls weekend

The boys are Boy Scout camping so us girls are going to the coffee shop, doing a bit of shopping and crafting of course. Bought a simple continental stitching kit from Hobby Lobby for my dear daughter last week while looking for cotton yarn for my upcoming beginner classes. In my mind I wanted chunky cotton so that swatches could be washcloths, clear to demonstrate and super easy to hook but chunky cotton does not seem to exist in the price range I have in mind!! In the end went for 75% cotton 50g worsted in pale colors from knitpicks.com
